Fitness Classes
Over the course of a couple of months, I attended a variety of fitness classes at the Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre in Cambridge. They have a variety of classes available, which can be seen below.
I had many preconceived ideas of what classes I would and wouldn't enjoy. For example, I thought yoga would be boring, and Zumba wouldn't be fun. However, I decided to try out as many classes as possible so I could see what I liked.
Funnily enough, Zumba and yoga became my two favourite classes. Yoga was much more challenging than I thought, and Zumba was great fun. I realised that I shouldn't have preconceived ideas about anything because more often than not, they're wrong. I'm so glad I tried out Zumba and yoga because I will continue them both in the future, even after I've completed all my CAS hours because I liked them so much.
Doing these fitness classes was very difficult for me at the start. Even though I go to the gym, I discovered that without an instructor or trainer, I don't push myself as hard as I should. In a fitness class, I was pressured to keep up with the instructor and the rest of the class. The first couple of classes I went to were very difficult and I was out of breath after 10 minutes, and I almost left quarter of the way through because I was so tired. However, I persevered and stayed to the end of all my classes and went to many classes each week. It was exhausting at first, but I knew that I had to persevere or I wouldn't become fitter.
Going several times a week meant I was taking the bus or being dropped off in a car much more often than usual. I decided that this wasn't very good for the environment, and if I was going to fitness classes then I should walk or cycle, which I started to do instead of being dropped off.
