Science Festival
I volunteered for the Cambridge Science Festival where I volunteered on the 16/03/2014 and 22/03/2014
On the 16th of March I volunteered 9am to 4:15pm. We met at the Corn Exchange and then walked over to the Lady Mitchell Hall where we checked tickets of the people who wanted to see the event.
On the 22nd March I volunteered 9:30am to 3pm. I volunteered first at the Hauser Forum where there was an event called the "School Zone" where schools from Cambridge did science experiments and demonstrations. Later I went to the Cavendish Lab and generally directed people to where they needed to go and checked tickets.
Both days were quite stressful because of how many people there were! We had to tell everyone to form an orderly queue, and make sure they filed in slowly and safely. One of the issues I dealt with was that people would come up to me beforehand and ask why they couldn't go in already, and why it was taking so long, and I had to explain that the event wasn't set up fully yet. Dealing with annoyed people was difficult at first, but I eventually learned how to deal calmly with them and explain that they had to wait for a few more minutes.
Here is part of the volunteer form I filled out beforehand, that I then emailed to the Science Festival Volunteers Co-ordinator.

I then received a risk assessment, volunteer briefing, and a volunteer rota.
Below is a gallery of photos from both days.
